Absolutely. Hatteras seashore is a long island, about an hour drive from start to finish, with plenty of beaches and stops to see and explore. You definitely should take your car, if possible. If not, get a bike with a basket or means to carry stuff easily. A car allows you to explore more though. There's a bridge in and a free ferry to/from Ocracoke.
