The road is safe; but cury. The caves are open; but the lodge and restaurants are closed as they continue to remodel the lodge.
If you drive responsibly it is a safe road.
The caves are closed for remodeling won't open till 20 21
It is curvy road rather than switchback. It is perfectly safe if you stick to instruction and speed limits mentioned on sign boards. Also visitor center at the caves mentioned that they will close the national park when road conditions are not safe. So it can be assumed that road is safe when park is functional.
