This year the water is quite swift. In a normal year, summer flows are 200-500 cubic feet per second. This year the water is moving at 1500 cubic feet per second, so there is a lot more water moving through the Stanislaus River. Under normal conditions, this is a very slow moving, lazy river, but that is not the case this year.

Thus year the water level is higher and stronger but usually its not so swift for new people ia good and exciting and for people who been there before its a little more challenging overall its fun. They also said they banned alcohol this year but you can still get it in they don't check the coolers

For, beginners.... it's a little overwhelming, but honestly it's super easy. We just did it with 3 teens and all 6 of us newbies and had a blast. Level 1/2 I think it's what our guide told us.

This is level 1 so small waves and current is not aggressive water is cold
