Well there's a five-year plan going out across all Walmarts in that time frame we will be going to self check-out all across the store except service areas and which from what I understand service areas can only check out service area items; we can't way or do wick based items as it would hinder availability of customer service in area.
I'd love to know the answer myself. I worked there years ago and one thing I always noticed was the cashiers i worked with (really anywhere) will wander off or stand beside another one (like they're helping while they're really just talking) Not sure if they just don't staff enough people to be at checkout or what it is. The few places i worked as a cashier, if we weren't busy then we stood at the front of our line so we could watch for people who were ready to check out and tell them to come over to our checkout line. I never see this anymore. I have seen them see me approaching and cut their eyes as if they didn't see me. Then they would take off in any direction other than their register. Very frustrating. There won't be many lines now. They have made almost every lane self checkout.
