How about stopping engines? “Each year, long-duration idling of truck and locomotive engines consumes over 1 billion US gallons (3,800,000 m3) of diesel fuel and emits 11 million tons of carbon dioxide, 200,000 tons of oxides of nitrogen, and ..."

This is an asinine statement. What is the question? Why would anyone with any sense post something so stupid on Google? Do you think any of the truckers will read your post? They are running their engine so they can have AC in their sleeper cab. Why don't you try sleeping without AC. Better yet, just leave the rest area and engines running won't bother you. Oh yeah, while we are making comments, these AMERICAN engines will run for at least a million miles. So, I don't think that the truckers are concerned about them starting. How about the ones manufactured in your native country?

actually engines running here would affect me anywhere i d be. you are burning the planet, which is borrowed from your children ... it is not yours nor mine... we need to protect the environment and leave the smallest footprint on it... the question was: why run the engines when the outside temperature is fine? why do you not install an APU to get AC instead of running a 500 hp engine to keep a small cabin comfortable? that engine is capable of providing AC for more than a few houses think a reefer has a much smaller engine that keeps an entire 53 footer at -20F... it doesnt make sense to keep a 15liter engine on for the comfort of one person it is plain stupid and there are alternatives! why dont you write your congressmen to make idling trucks illegal federally? “With less than 5 percent of world population, the U.S. uses one-third of the world’s paper, a quarter of the world’s oil, 23 percent of the coal .. creating half of the globe’s solid waste."

Why the hell is anyone answering this whiner?

Wicked Witch | Oct 4, 2021

The trucks need to run for heat and cooling, as long as You and everyone else purchases ANYTHING from a store, from your smart phones to your toilet paper Trucks are necessary, END OF STORY

How about you buy me the APU and I promise no to idle again... This ain't my truck and I make barely enough to pay taxes and housing expenses. I don't idle just to hurt the planet but to be able to rest and drive and rest and drive and do it over and over again... I sure would rather go home every night and sleep with my family and that amazing AC unit.
