Right now you don't have to pay. You only have to pay from Memorial Day to Labor Day as far as I know.
Government will take your money anyway they can.

This is for the beach entrance & not the parking lot near the water park. I was there Sunday and there is a sign by the pay booth stating "credit cards not accepted". Should have taken a photo.
