There are YARTS buses that go into Yosemite starting in mid May and run through mid September.
Very small town, but it's a great hotel. Not exactly sure how you would end up there without a car. But everything (and it's not much) is within walking distance.
do you mean the town/living there? there's limited shopping. it's a tourist town/pit stop to Yosemite so it gets pricey. it's a nice town though and there's history and haunted areas including Groveland and Charlotte Hotels but they're nice spirits. good luck getting uber or lyft out there if you don't have a car.
