I have heard that there may be problems with transients in the campground. We have reservations for Memorial Day weekend, is it safe to bring the kids?

Our families have been camping there for many years and we've never had any problems.

I would not worry about it. I never seen any there during the summer.

Yes, it is safe. The rangers will be cruising the campgrounds more for this Memorial weekend and I beleive most if not all the homeless have found other places to live. But still keep an eye on your kids, even seemingly respectable campers can wind up becoming not so nice people. Preditors, drunks, and violent people aren't limited to just being homeless people.

The campground used to be first come, first served. It's by reservation now. I didn't see any transient camps.....

The county has implemented the reservation system this year to help prevent the transient and homeless situation in the campground. Last year I stayed there 4 times with my boyfriend's kids and we had zero issues.

I believe the transients are there mostly in the off season.
