Why is it called "children's" zoo? Just curious for someone who has never been.

Back when I was younger it was called the Franke Park Children's Zoo. It has always been a fantastic opportunity for schools to plan educational field trips.

Decades ago I worked there. At the time it was set up as a zoo without research and breeding programs. So it was more an exhibit for children than a conservation center. I believe that"children's zoo" was a classification for that type of environment.

Was wondering the same thing already, but great for Children because of how they made the animals visible from closer to the ground also lots of rides and activities and food that the children like.

It is not just for kids though. My wife and I went with my 24 year old son who just graduated from college. We had a great time. This is the best zoo we ever went to.

They have interactive lessons for children learning. Most of the exhibits are geared to allow for max visibility for children. And they have alot of fun children's activities available throughout the park.
