Reserved picnic tables are under pavilions. Like... 18 tables give or take. They are a little far from the main action. You can go early and put your stuff on a bunch of free tables. I have seen people set up their own canopies. That looks like the way to go for small-medium groups.
Yeah its in the shade in a quiet area of the park. Nice area with a really good amount of tables. PRO TIP - buy season passes and if you go 3 times you got your moneys worth...you can go everyday on a season pass
Yes there are a lot of shelters and tables available. A Hundred tables is a fair estimate
