I'm interested in clamming, and I have a few questions: 1. Can I rent equipment from the store? (Shovels, buckets, etc.) 2. What station use to use for predicting the tides? 3. Can I go clamming when the tide says "2.45 ft" (MLLW)

Yup, I found a tide chart. Just to clarify, my question is about the different levels of low tide. Is it OK to clam at ALL low tides?

Minues are the best tides for clamming... 'Negative tides'... And the shop at the S. end was always the best but now the store up top of the north side as you drive in has all you need aswell... Im sure they have Both always had what you need... I just always loved going to the south end to look at the old boats and get up close to 'Point Reyes'... But yes - negative tides are best... Commonly in the A.M. in the summer my friend... And late afternoon is the lowest... Although a really low negative tide (-1.6 or -1.9) will make it good for clamming all day... Furthermore - Get a tide book, going on line is silly... Get a good tide book... It does not need internet connection.... Hahahhaa and the equipment is cheap... Renting would not be a practicle option...
