We are traveling with a small group (4 adults total), are we all required to have the application on our phones, or will we be able to have key cards at check in?

No they have traditional keys also

Only one can use the digital key. The rest will you a key card.

Yes, the use of the digital key is optional, you can get key cards when you check in
