I also find the prices very high, higher than any thrift store I have been in.
I so agree you have to shop around there and pick through everything. Prices have become ridiculous .
Hi Corinne, we're sorry to hear our prices are not to your liking. As with every business, there are built-in costs that are necessary to operate a business. We pay the salaries, benefits, education and training costs of our employees who pick-up, process, distribute and sell the items donated to us. We do our best to price these items fairly to maximize their value with proceeds being used to help fund our mission in helping CT residents gain self-sufficiency with employment as well as funding our programs and services that help thousands of people in Connecticut yearly overcome barriers to independence and assisting them in leading full and rich lives. Goodwill is proud to spend 92 cents of every dollar we spend to support our mission which helps countless people in our state. You do have a choice of where to shop and donate, and we hope that you choose one that fits in line with your beliefs. We wish you pleasant shopping experiences in the future, with us or elsewhere.
Yes I have always thought that the Goodwill is a bit more expensive than other major thrift stores. But , as with everything, you have to look around. I saw a man yesterday with 2 of those "lasko" brand box fans in his carriage for $5 each. They retail for about $18 each. Some of the collectible stuff can be pricey and broken(!) , But just take your time and be careful. Happy Hunting!
