It's called Andrea's fountain. Designed over 50yrs ago, it was received with much public outcry and Halprin the squares architect protested with a 5pg published complaint starting the scale and theme were not in line with his vision for the square. Ruth used her neighbor as a model for the sculpture and it was installed in 1968.
