It is true that the prices vary. At Ikea you can get a Queen sized frame for around $150-$400 depending on what you choose. Also, the slats that go under are either $50 or $80 depending on the style but we didn't need slats for our bed since we have a hard box frame.
It really just depends on the style so maybe you should go to the store with your mattress measurements :D
