Sure. Plan ahead for anything that may come up.
Camping is fun for everyone with the right mind set pack a play pen and plenty of travel toys, and plenty old extra clothes for layers. Have fun.
I say "get a room" in a hotel! Be comfortable, sleep in a nice bed, and have access to clean bathroom facilities. You will want to keep your hands clean, your child clean, and you really cannot do that in a campsite. You can always spend some time with your family visiting them in the campsite and then going back to your hotel room so that your child will have a little bit of the experience.
Tent camping weather is usually great in April and the area is quite developed for camping. The campsites are a lot of fun to take the kids to , I think either would be enjoyable with your toddler. Be aware that some years there is a huge caterpillar infestation around the campsites in April. Sometimes that is the biggest turn-off for would-be campers
Camp for sure, just make sure to check the forecast first, and plan on reserving a campsite beforehand
How long would you be camping? I would personally just camp with my child, but it's not for everyone (especially if camping more than a couple of days). You just need to decide if you think you can handle it or not.
Recommend getting a hotel or more of a glamping experience. If your child is a light sleeper then camping amongst others can be a little brutal. Good luck and have fun!
