Small plates are a thing, yes. In terms of price, for the quality of food Isakaya Meiji offers, the prices seem fairly reasonable to me. They are not at the level of a full dinner unless you are comparing to fast food junk.
If the price of your "regular dinner" hovers around 6-8 bucks, you must be McLovin' it.
The small plates are priced as small plates. The "larger" dishes are charged accordingly.
They have small plates, they have full dinner.
The quality of the food can be easily determined by the taste buds we develop in tasting these modern dishes. If you want to argue reasonable pricing then you'll have to look at these possible ingredients done and how they're made. You can find thousands of videos of how to make high quality dishes and most of the time it doesn't cost that much. Sure you are paying for the labor and the maintenance cost while businesses are justifying due to the marginal profit that they gain, but there is no way that this place has me wow'd for the efforts they put into their menu. If anything, this place is just another restaurant taking advantage of Japanese cuisine into their dishes and calling it unique while maintaining low efforts aesthetic environment.
Excellent food well worth the price quality establishment highly recommend
