They are optional and it generally does NOT get crowded enough for it to matter -UNLESS YOU HAVE A BIG GROUP. It's a popular spot though; and since you call make reservations online at their website; or through Open Table - I STRONGLY RECOMMEND MAKING RESERVATIONS. YOU CAN MAKE THEM 24 HOURS, AND IT'S BETTER TO HAVE THEM AND NOT NEED THEM... ALSO, IF YOU MAKE RESERVATIONS, YOU CAN SECURE SPECIFIC SEATING AREA, VS TAKING IT AS IT COMES. Once you gain familiarity with the place, you'll see the different seating and the fact that certain seating areas are definitely more apropos for certain interactions. You can't go wrong No matter where you sit here; but specific seating selection can certainly add to the experience.
