Yes going closer to opening or closing is best. I was there 2 weeks ago, mid day. Waited in line 20 min. Restaurant is closed but cafe is open, with limited items. Lines to checkout were long because only a few were open
Avoid weekends! During the week its OK.
I went on the 10th, a Friday, close to opening time to the IKEA in Renton, WA and had a 45 minute wait to get inside. Waiting for checkout was very fast, with only one person ahead of me.
When I went 7/13/20 , there was still a line. There were only a few people in front of me and the other lanes had no more than 5 waiting. But the wait was still long no matter which line you go.
Yes, the line can get quite long but if you arrive close to opening it goes pretty quickly and the inside of the store is exponentially less crowded than normal because of the occupancy limits they have in place. Arrive between 9:30am and 10am (when they open) and you shouldn't have to wait terribly long. In two visits in the last two weeks, the longest wait was about 30-40 minutes, arriving just after they opened. When we arrived before open we got in within 10 minutes.
I've been twice & haven't experienced any lines going in. Not extremely busy in the evenings
