Yes, a valid credit card and NOT a debit card is required to initially rent a vehicle. Upon return, you can then choose to pay for the rental with a debit card instead of the credit card that they have on file. They will initially authorize your credit card for $460.00 and then again for $248.00 for each subsequent week that you keep the vehicle
Yes you do. They require it claiming it's a Massachusetts rule since all of the other Hertz Ubers in the US accept both. However they also claim that at the end when you return it you can pay with either/or. I was never given the option but I returned mine after hours.
