I went there with no prior contact and simply registered at a suggestion box style slot at the actual location which is called the astronomy area. Did not even have to speak to anyone when I arrived. They lock the gate at dusk and reopen at dawn. Strictly no white light is to be shone of any kind for the entire morning til dawn. Cars are not moved around etc yes camping in tents or campers. there is water but only one spicket there is electric but low current only to be used to support astronomy equipment but not campers electric hooku[p
No, you can not camp in the observation field. You can bring a blanket & sit in the field all night, but no tents. The camping area is close by, but you have to reserve a spot.
