Response to Jo Ann Coull-You could probably spend $35-$40 for a good Wilson basketball. You need to acess how much timre would the 15 year old be using the basketball. If he's going to use it every day, say after school, then you may want to consider buyng a good one because he' ll use the cheaper one(and as we know everything is made for a price), and it will get out of balance especially if the ball is made out of some type of plastic compound. Make sure the basketball is made out of some rype of pebble grained surfaced leather. This will still wear out, especially if its bounced on a concreted, outdoor schoolyard court, but it will still last much longer than the PVC or plasric compounded basketball. Buy it with an included inflation hand pump(wirh needle), so it can be pumped up as needed. The higher priced pebble grained basketball also has a much higher quality, self sealing bladder valve, critical to maintaning the basketball's pressure. Hope this will help's your decision
