They don't declaw cats anymore, they consider that cruelty now. But some older cats may come in declawed.
Do not declaw cats. Train your cats and give them respect, trim their claws even if it takes 2 people or a vet/groomer. But chopping a cat’s claws is equal to chopping your fingers off up to the second knuckle. It’s cruel and shouldn’t be the choice of anyone who says they respect and love cats. If you have kids, then wait till they’re old enough to own a cat and know what’s going on if you’re worried at all about that sort of thing. If you worry about your furniture, buy bitter apple spray or No Scratch spray they sell at the pet store.
You can get nail covers for the claws. It is humane and you can get them at most pet stores or online. If you are renting, ask them if the cat claw covers is acceptable instead of having it declawed. If you only want a cat declawed so you dont get scratched or save your furniture, there are sprays you can use to train them not to scratch on the furniture and provide alot of scratching posts.
They have some declawed just ask they will show you
I have a cat that needs a good home
I didn't know until recently that by declawing they must remove each digit up to first knuckle
