Hi Judi! Seaport Village is on Port of San Diego land. The company who currently owns and operates Seaport Village, TRC, has a lease with the Port of San Diego until September 2018. The Port of San Diego indicated that it would like to redevelop the land that Seaport Village currently sits on once TRC's lease expires. Redevelopment, especially on Port tidelands property, takes a long time. So the Port of San Diego has decided to take over Seaport Village, in its current state, and run it until the redevelopment can happen. Right now they are signing 3-5 year lease deals with the current Seaport Village shops and restaurants. It is feasible that Seaport Village could remain standing as is for another 5-10 years. That is how long redevelopments can take. As you can see, it is not a clear-cut answer. We appreciate your interest and hope you will visit our shops and restaurants soon!
We'll have to wait and see what the Port of San Diego decides to do. Patronage appears to have dropped since they stopped allowing validation of parking. This is one of the favorite places my wife and I like go visit frequent. Hopefully, the Port will keep this place going for a while.
Wow i dont know. I remember some talk of other things being built in that area, never really heard if it was finalized. I must do some research and will post it in future if I learn anything. Truly sad if that's going to happen ..... Thank you seaport village owner for your response, saved me some time and concern on the answer myself. Its good to know more beautiful memories can be created at seaport village.
