Has this theater changed from a second-run, discount theater, to a full-price, first run theater?

They are now a first run movie theater. They have all new recliners and yes the prices did go up, but they are still considerably cheaper than other theaters. The matinee is 4.99 and general admission is 7.99. At AMC you're paying 8 for matinee and 12 for gen admin. It is still worth it. Just saying

I have to agree wholeheartedly with everyone else. It was so nice to be able to take the family to a second run theatre. You don't have to take out a second mortgage to enjoy an evening at the movies. Now we'll be going somewhere else. If it isn't broke, DON'T BREAK IT!

From an October, 2017 Columbus Dispatch story: “To be competitive now, people want recliners, in-theater dining, digital sound and picture,” he said. “The theater at Carriage Place has been around for a while, and we wanted to make some renovations to make it again a destination.” -- Frank Gonzales, marketing manager for the company, based in the Dallas suburb of Plano, Texas. I, for one, detest in-theater dining. As you're trying to watch a movie/film, staff interrupt moviegoers to whisper whether they want over-priced, inferior refreshments. No thank you! I buy them on the way in to the movie! In-theater dining is for authentic spots like Studio 35 or a kid's special bday or maybe a date night for moviegoers who like chatting during filming. We only see matinees now. If they bring in-theater dining, I'm going to order DVDs/Blu-rays from the library (cross fingers they aren't scratched) and watch at home!

I liked the old way it used to look like and I could afford it now we have to pay for recliners that I don't want and cantvsee older movie we missed for about $1.75 per ticket. Wasn't someone not making enough money?

Why did they change from the 2nd run movies? I loved it going here to see the movies that I've missed. Now there's no inexpensive theaters in this area.

It must have changed. These are all first run movies that are being shown right now. Too bad. This used to be a great place for cheap second run movies!

Daniel Langstaff | Dec 12, 2017

Yes. Partially. They are still in the process of remodeling. I liked the old theater better.

Neil Gregory | Dec 12, 2017

Mainly second run, but it is now nicer inside.

Yes!

Doug | Dec 12, 2017

Negative. High price tickets. No longer a second run discount movie theater.
