My 11 year old daughter has recently discovered the axolotl and fallen in love. I know nothing about them other than photos I've seen that she has shown me. She has a birthday coming up. Are axolotls easy "pets" for a 12 year old to care for?

I would say yes but only because I'm 11 and need an axolotl. but there are some really informal videos out there.

Axolotl require a lot of care. For one, they require cool water. For most people, especially in a hot climate like Atlanta, this means having a chiller on the tank.

No pet is "easy" as in they take a lot of time to do proper care you and her should definitely do research into it. They can be fun and amazing pets with lots of character. If I had to rate it 1-10 ten being extremely difficult. For her age I would say a 7
