Unfortunately no it's not. Life safety in the aquarium comes in the form of wet floor signs. There's even a tray full of confiscated "assault" lighters when you go through the metal detectors

I had a pocket knife and I had to leave it with the guard to be picked up when I left. They gave me a valet style ticket to show the guard in the gift shop. I'm guessing they don't want knives so idiots can carve their name or tag the acrylic.
Bags are searched and you go through a metal detector.
Not in the least. You will go through metal detectors going in, and will be turned away if carrying.
