Depends on ages and interest. With little ones go to real trains firs t. Otherwise you will soend 2+ hours in childrens section and never see the real trains.
Me personally I would stay all day
I'd give yourself at least two hours or so... But I believe you could spend four or five there, depending on how close a look you give everything. It is quite a large building filled with locomotives and cars. If you are taking children, there are a lot of interactive areas that will keep them busy. You will probably also want to plan some time for riding the Strasburg Railroad across the street. That's a 45-minute roundtrip, and combo tickets can be purchased at the museum, though they are two independently-operated entities. Enjoy your visit; our family always does!
I agree with William Stewart. I have little ones (under 4) who love this museum (see my review). They enjoy the train yard outside, the trains inside, the open trains, and the toy train area. But it's all dependent on your level of interest and patience. I could spend hours on hours there given the opportunity. Lots of wonderful information and exhibits. We're fans.
If you like reading the informational signs, more than a day.
Suggest a minimum visit of two hours. There's plenty to see and do for guests of all ages. Your admission is good all day.
The amount of time one needs really depends upon a few factors: the age of the members of the party, thr the participants subject matter interst level and their particular ability to navigate a very large area with a lot of walking. My family with children stays about 2 to 3 hours per visit. Hope this helps and I will answer your additional questions.
Agree with the last reviewer. Probably a solid two hours.
A few hours for kids.
