For Mika, after you get certified by your doctor, he tells you to register online for your card. Once they approve application there is an option where you can print out a “temporary card” that’s valid for 1 month while you wait for the actual card in the mail.
Im not sure what you mean by "temporary card." NY state has to issue a card by mail (which serves as your license to carry with you at all times) once you register online. You need this physical card, along with your certificate (prescription) in order to buy anything.
