I liked it, seemed pretty safe to me, and I'm a very cautious person.
It's a safe spot and easy access to other areas in Pittsburgh
As others, it has always seemed safe to me, and close to lots of good bars and food
No it's not. It's a clean, safe area with businesses all around
Nah. It has gated parking lot, private secured with hotel key entrance, and super friendly staff. Definitely save yourself the money and stay there.
Not upscale area but tons of restaurants and no problems with druggie or panhandlers .
I am a Pittsburgh resident, never stayed at the hotel. Historically the neighborhood was a working class area with corner bar-type establishments. The last 10-15 years have had a LOT of development going on and it has become a very popular place for all ages, particularly millenials. There seems to be a fair amount of reputable night life almost every day. I wouldn't have any concern about my daughters being there any evening. (Or living there for that matter, there are some pretty nice new apartment buildings.)
