I was just there yesterday and while river access is still permitted there are signs that state no camping. If the Greenbrier area is where you are staying I would recommend either the Greenbrier hotel or perhaps Snowshoe resort.
The site is free. However, at present camping is still not open at National Park Sites within the New River Gorge. Check their website for updates.
yes camping is permitted and it is free. you can either have river access to new river or walk up glade Creek trailhead and have Creek and camping access
