Depending on what you want....date night, then go with Barrel House. However, a casual lunch or dinner with friends or co-workers, than I would go with O'Reilly's.
Two totally different places. O'Reilly 's is far more casual with more of a diner type menu. Standard drinks. Only a couple of IPA choices. Great for watching sports. Barrel House is higher end; wider variety of drinks and wines. Better food selection. Higher prices. Personally, we love Krave (BYOB) as an alternative choice. Although reservations are recommended. Lastly, if you are seeing a show at Newton Theater and worried about time...O'Reilly 's is much faster. Barrel House service varies greatly depending on whether or not there is enough wait staff working that day.
The food at the barrel house is far superior to that of O'Reilly's.
