If you google search 'Mesa Verde Accessibility' it will bring you to a NPS page asking what type of accessibility issue. Then click on the page listed as 'Physical/Mobility' Here, it breaks down different places within Mesa Verde and options depending on whether you need assistance or not. This is a great page, detailing all sites/options within the park.
There are some sites visible from the roadway. Most of the pull outs require a 50-100 yard journey. Most if not all the pull outs are handicapped accessible
There are many pull outs with paved areas and paved walks that a wheelchair can traverse. There are lots of dirt pathways to some very interesting excavations that are well worth the effort to see. You won't regret the adventure.
You can drive the loop, get out walk 15 feet and see amazing views. Elevation is high, bring water.
There are many things to be seen from the road or from the paths beside the road and parking areas. I have a heart condition that prevents me from climbing or taking difficult hikes.I had a great day there. Take some binoculars and a camera. Enjoy what you can.
You can easily see most of the viewing areas and cliffs are perfectly visible from spots When you are driving around.
It really depends on what you want to get out of the park. If you are interested in the native history, I don't think you will find what is available near the road very interesting. Or rather, the little that would be accessible is such a small portion that it might not be worth the trip. I gotta be honest and say that all the native stuff starts to look the same at some point. Unless you are really into Native American history, it gets old after about 24 hours But to be totally honest. The native history really plays second fiddle to the beauty of the area. If I ever return to the park, I will spend my time on the roads and pull-offs enjoying the nature and the views. We we're totally blown away by the unexpected scenery.
You can still see wonderful sights from the road, although some tours are off limits, as they include ladders.
Yes there is a lot to see from the road with physical limitations there are some things you can't go see I was there right after major surgery on both of my legs and enjoyed all I got to see spent a whole day there planning on going back
Yes you can see some thing s from the road but you can also use a wheel chair its worth it
