This place looks great from the street, and it would be a shame if it were to close. However, it's not pleasant to sit through long movies. Jenkintown residents would probably get on board with donating to the theater monthly to preserve it. Down the line, maybe they could spring for some new seats, better speakers etc. *Update* They do accept donations! Glad to become a member.

Excellent venue! Great projection, sound, and pricing. Well-worth checking out!

Kind & friendly staff, a homey small town feel that is so refreshing from a loud & busy AMC. We were so happy to have randomly come across this theater & will definitely make it a regular place for date night.

Hello, David -- my name is Mary, and I work for the Hiway Theater. Yes, THE WIZARD OF OZ is being shown on Saturday, July 27 at 10:30 AM as part of the KiDS series (https://www.hiwaytheater.org/kids). I will pass along your suggestion that the film be shown in the evening in recognition of its 80th anniversary (it was released in August 1939). However, the Hiway is an historic one-screen theater, and our ability to program events in the evening outside of whatever Main Attraction we are running is very limited due to restrictions from film distributors. (See this blog post for a better understanding of the vagaries of the movie theater biz! https://medium.com/renew-theaters/an-update-regarding-hiway-programming-and-previews-brochure-6c8640306c46) The best way to stay on top of additions to our programming schedule is sign up to receive our weekly email: https://visitor.r20.constantcontact.com/manage/optin?v=001peuSb9w_PdB4aprUXZLX9jgsJUheRiM0 Thank you for reaching out, David!
Yes. Check the website.
Looks like you were already in touch with the rental coordinator, Bennie. Thank you for considering the Hiway when planning your event!
Hello, Loretta! We are renting the theater -- check out www.hiwaytheater.org/rentals for details. And we are working toward a reopening date! If you don't already receive our emails, you can stay on top of announcements by signing up for those at www.hiwaytheater.org/newsletter. Thanks for being as excited about seeing movies in the theater again as we are!
Sorry, Leslie! LITTLE WOMEN was at the Hiway for several weeks starting in December, but 1917 is on screen now. LITTLE WOMEN is still playing at our affiliated theater in Ambler, though it may be it's final week since it's been there quite a while as well: www.amblertheater.org/films/little-women -Mary
