My husband went in for a work related hand injury. Because of covid I was never allowed to go in to the appts with him he speaks very little to no English. We'll he was never really heard/understood and for his pain Dr. White gave him a steroid shot that eventually wore off. My husband is still suffering pain, Dr. White never solved the problem but closed his case so now insurance will not help us. Called around and OHSU would help us but we would have to pay out of pocket $25k money we don't have.

I wish I had read all the reviews for this location. Injured my back at the end of June and went to Salem Occupational Health since they took walk ins and I needed to see a Workers Comp Doctor. I met Dr White and first visit went well. He took a bit of time to assess my situation and made a plan. Next visit was drastically worse than the first. He came in, asked 2 questions, made me bend forward, backwards, then rotate, had me sit on the table for a reflex test, and then said he was releasing me to light duty, despite my issues I was telling him about. Third visit took a bigger dive as he asked the SAME 2 questions, did the same routine, and said I was good to do Light Duty. That the pain will disipate on its own. Then ended the visit like that. Not a single thing I said made it through. Fourth visit he finally relented to my request I had asked for previously, and also told me he was going to release me back to work, that so long as I followed HIS instructions, I should he fine to go back. I now majorly regret not switching sooner. I am still experiencing pain in the areas I mentioned to him before, my physical therapist has left notes for him, and he hasn't once talked to me about them. He pays ZERO attention to patients and BARELY takes the time to listen and talk to them. Go somewhere else, or request a different doctor. DO NOT SEE DOCTOR WHITE! You'll come to regret it like I have.

Salem Occupational Health has been a disaster. The doctors at Salem Occupational Health will basically do whatever SAIF tells them to do. Even if they refer you out to another clinic or another doctor, the second opinion or third opinion they receive is routinely discarded. The first doctor I was assigned at Salem Occupational Health was Dr. Bertram, Who wrote me a prescription for some Tylenol 3 on another doctors prescription pad, because his license to prescribe narcotics had been suspended. He also “desperately needed“ to see my x-ray from an outside provider, an x-ray that was taken the day of the injury. After several weeks worth of appointments and him complaining that he hadn’t been able to obtain the x-ray, I suggested that I just be sent for a new x-ray, he declined. so we waited almost 2 months to start any kind of treatment, because he was waiting on an old x-ray instead of just ordering a new one. After I lodged a complaint about not wanting to be assigned to a doctor that won’t order an X-ray and literally can’t even write a prescription for me, I was assigned a second doctor, Dr. Thiessen. Dr. Theissen was better, but still didn’t listen to anything my wife or I had to say. He still didn’t agree even though SAIF and my employer had already accepted the injury as a work injury, the video footage had already been reviewed, everybody had signed off on the fact that this was a work injury, the Dr. Theissen, not a foot specialist, just a general practice doctor, he wasn’t so sure. Even though Dr. Theissen routinely stated that “feet are not my specialty” he had quite a bit to say in regards to what I needed, which routinely went against the actual foot specialist I was seeing at Hope Orthopedics. I now have a referral for the foot surgery I need, two procedures and one surgery, and simply needed a referral, and my new Dr, Dr White, Barged into the room and said “I’ve reviewed some of your file, and I’m releasing you to go back to work full duty, no restrictions. Again, I am referred for a foot surgery, I cannot walk, my injury case has already been to a legal hearing, which I won, the SAIF corporation has agreed to cover this surgery, and rehabilitation afterwards, I tried to explain this to the angry ranting Dr. White, but he was not listening to anything that I had to say. I asked Dr. White, point blank, are you even going to look at my foot? Look at the bruising and swelling?” His reply? “No.” So after a full year of sometimes monthly, and sometimes biweekly appointments at Salem Occupational Health, and being referred out to other locations for several IME evaluations, all of which came back in my favor, my “new“ doctor declined to even look at my foot. If you want to doctors that don’t listen, doctors that do whatever the SAIF corporation tell them to do, or you just want to be treated at a clinic that seems to round up doctors who are otherwise on their way out, then I highly recommend Salem Occupational Health. Also, be advised that in the midst of a Covid pandemic, Dr. White can’t be bothered to wear his mask appropriately, meaning covering his nose and his mouth at the same time. Completely unprofessional, completely inexcusable, and honestly, just kind of sad.

This location had a student administrate my eye test, I didn't know this until after I was about to walk out the door(nor would I have cared)- however, he could not make up his mind on what eye he wanted me to cover, and people walking in front of the eye exam chart. By the time the real doctor came in and saw me, which by the way apparently was the owner- failed me on the eye test based on the student's remarks. When I brought this concern up to the doctor and a few others minor concerns I had, he acted like I offended him and was telling me to get out(and wasn't very nice about it- it caught me off-guard really). Making statements like "If you don't like it here- why don't you just leave"... I never said I didn't like it I just had a few concerns especially if you are failing me on my DOT exam. The same Doctor/owner re-examined my eye test AND PASSED ME, but only after the whole debacle. A two star because what really irritates me, is an email sent back to my employer about the encounter. I've had numerous DOT exams and this is the worst experience. Honestly the doctor should have just said "easy, I can re administrate the test if you'd like?". I also want to make mention that the front desk receptionist wasn't very welcoming... It's minor, but not a good way to start. Other than the debacles it would have been a fast and easy experience. And I get it, students need a chance to learnhowever it shouldn't have been an argument when I simply expressed a concern about how a test was done (concerned brought up with the doctor not with the student). After all, it is my DOT fitness exam.... One last thing, I had a true eye exam just a few months ago, other than minor eye astigmatism... I see perfectly fine.
