I agree with these reviews. Two guys there super helpful. Was buying for my kid and they didn't pressure sale at all but gave a lot of great info for us to make a wise decision on his first skate board. Didn't try to up sell or anything like that. Might add very friendly too!

First trip in earlier today. I have to say I’m so thankful there is a shop on the west side, especially one that is freaking rad like this place. My stop today was quick, looking for bushings for my trucks. I figured I’d check the Place out and I was impressed. I’m not any sort of pro, just a guy who has recently been getting back into skating after many years. This place is a paradise. Let me explain. 1.) Support your local skate shop. This is your local skate shop. This place is comfortable, it’s got the vibe, and the guy behind the counter (Devin) is a guy you want to get to know. There is no ego here, only a love for the sport. Big props given here for the variety of local brands this shop is pushing. Portland area companies all supported here, such a welcoming sight to see. 2.) Selection. Decks, trucks, wheels, bearings, bushings, hardware, completes, shoes, clothes, pads, helmets, socks, hats, shades, Wax, and etc. This place has what you need. All of the crucial items are covered, and the prices are beyond reasonable. And price shouldn’t bother you when supporting a place like this, your dollar goes a lot further in the hands of a skater owned shop. I noticed a lot of The big brand names for trucks, wheels, and decks. Same with clothes and shoes. Shoe selection isn’t vast, but all that is on display are solid quality shoes tried and tested through time. Shop boards for sale, as well as different board shapes. Full completes on sale as well, an excellent place to bring your kid for their first board. 3.) Service at the counter. Great experience. I genuinely wanted to spend time in the shop even when I didn’t need to. Got to see a mother bringing her son in for a complete and watched the dude (Devin) behind the counter work so well with both of them. After they left I got to chat with Devin and instantly I wanted to ask him to be my friend and show me how to skate better. If my wife wasn’t in the car waiting I would have stayed for at least an hour longer. In all seriousness no matter the level of skill you have, you’ll find comfort in this place. There is no ego at this shop. You cannot, and will not go wrong coming to this place for your skate needs. I used to browse decks and gear online when I was bored at work or couldn’t get out to skate. Now I think I’ll just come here and hang out. On that note the only thing I wish this place had was a big couch and an N64. I don’t think I would leave. Seriously, check it out. The reviews are all saying the same thing. This is the kind of place that you dream of working at if you have any interest in skating, and it’s worth a trip in to check it out. See you there.

The people that run this shop are super kind. There is ZERO judgement and ZERO “cool guy” attitude. Substance skate shop has the right idea when it comes to skateboarding culture. Skateboarding is fun. Support this shop!!! 🤑❤️

Genuinely the best retail experience I’ve ever had. Every time I go to substunce everyone is so insanely nice and goes out of their way to help you. Highly recommend even if you don’t skate

Call and ask
Everybody wears masks with or without customers aren't in the store. The customer service reps keep their 6-ft distance.
Regardless of what you end up paying if you get a complete they apply a 10% discount through the shop!
Interesting question. I was just perusing photos of the store, which are available right here for all of us to look at, and yep, they do.
