Khino is the best of the best when it comes to changing your life. Khino’s leadership ways as a trainer teach u not to depend on his guidance but leave u with all the knowledge u will ever need. 13 years ago when I first stepped into a gym, Khino witnessed me doing a squat horribly, out of personal worry about me hurting myself he helped me. Showing me form etc.., I then decided to higher him and after our 3 month contract I was hooked! 13 years later weight training and overall fitness is just a way of life thanks to his leadership. This guys the real deal! Thanks again Khino! U have no idea how much u your leadership influenced me

Intimidated by gym culture? Me too! I needed help learning how to weight train and build muscle and I got lucky when I chose Portland Personal Training. It's been a life-changing experience. Khino is an approachable, patient and consistent trainer with a great sense of humor. He leads an amazing team and program. You can really feel the love at this place. The club is so welcoming and safe. The positive vibe is strong and the community is real. Training with PPT has been a balm for all that ailed me, a healing experience; mind, body and soul. I especially appreciate their intention to create a safe space for queer and non-binary folks. Not even a whiff of toxic masculinity here. So grateful to PPT for creating a custom fit for me, supporting me to reach my goals, and building skills I'll use for life. A deep and endless thank you from a very happy (and ripped, like, totally shredded) customer.

Had such a great experience here! I worked with Alberto and he was so helpful and encouraging, he always made sure to ask if I had questions and helped me fix anything I felt I wasn't doing correctly. He gave me lots of tips for in the gym, as well as exercises I can do at home! Would definitely reccomend:)

Aly has been a friend of mine for a long while now and when it came to finding someone to help me out in improving myself physically, I had nothing but 100% trust in her for my choice. She’s made every session I’ve had with her a fun experience and has worked with me in specific areas I need work on with no pressure and absolute ease. She’s very personable and patient, which definitely eased my anxiety of coming in to something new like this. She’s shown the aspects of a great personal trainer that I’ve always thought of them to have. I may come out of each session a little achy and sweaty, but at least I’m having a fun and enjoyable time doing it! Her humor and personality definitely will ease up anyone new coming in to this. Trust me, it helped me out! Thanks, Aly.

Do you work with people with medical issues?

Wendy Knight | Aug 18, 2018
Portland Personal Training & Weight Loss | Aug 18, 2018

We can definitely work with people who have different injuries, disabilites, medical issues, or other challenges but we are only Personal Trainers. We do not diagnose or treat serious medical issues, illnesses, or injuries. If a client has exercise (or other health related goals) that they have been given by a medical professional then we can certainly help execute those goals and keep the client accountable. We have had many clients that were really frustrated. They felt there was nothing they could do for exercise or activity due to pain or injuries. It can be really rewarding for us to help them figure out what they can do for exercise despite those challenges. Often times their pain and energy can improve just with the increased activity.

What is a typical session like?

Wendy Knight | Aug 18, 2018
Portland Personal Training & Weight Loss | Aug 18, 2018

A typical Personal Training Session is 30 or 60 minutes long. The Trainer and the Client set up pre-scheduled times to workout and we try to keep the scheduling convenient and consistent for our clients. Sticking with a program is hard enough already, we try to make it as easy as possible. Most clients warm up before their session. The Personal Trainer will have a workout set up for them before they arrive but will check in with the client to see if they have any differing goals or issues for the workout. We try to make the workouts fun and they are always based on your current fitness level and goals. We use our time during the workouts efficiently to talk about our clients off-day exercise and eating plans and we make sure they know what to do 7 days a week to accomplish their goals. We confirm all appointments and check in with our clients via text throughout the week to whatever level helps them most. Everything is focused on helping our clients achieve the results they want.

I have a busy work schedule with varying hours. What hours are you available?

Melissa Schwalm | Aug 18, 2018
Portland Personal Training & Weight Loss | Aug 18, 2018

We have Trainers that cover times from 5 in the morning to 8 or 9pm Mon-Saturdays (Most Trainers take Sundays off). Workout times need to be convenient for the client otherwise they won't stick with it. We try to make it as easy for you as possible. Having multiple male and female Personal Trainers makes it easier to manage lots of different availabilities.

Is gym membership included in your training packages?

Kari Powell | Aug 18, 2018
Portland Personal Training & Weight Loss | Aug 18, 2018

We get that question a lot. And the answer is......YES! Access to the facilities is included in all Personal Training Packages. If clients would like unlimited access (workout anytime at the locations) a discounted rate with zero joinging fees and no monthly commitment is available.

How much weight can I lose using a Personal Trainer?

Mark Noonan | Aug 18, 2018
Portland Personal Training & Weight Loss | Aug 18, 2018

The sky's the limit Mark! Many of our clients have lost significant amounts of weight (up to over 100 pounds!). It all depends on how closely they follow a recommended program. Clients that exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet can expect to lose 1-3 pounds of bodyfat per week! That may seem kind of slow to new clients but look at it this way, If you lost 12-36 pounds of bodyfat over the next 3 months you would be happy right? You will also get so much more than just weight loss..... It's also important to understand that you will feel better right away from a good program (even before the weight loss starts). You will have increased energy and self image, aches and pains subside, you'll sleep better, and you will feel better about yourself right away. Weight loss is great and we definitely focus on helping clients achieve their desired results, but sometimes the uninteded consequences of working out and eating healthy can be just as powerful as the weight loss:)

I'm a 68 year old woman who's lost a significant amount of weight, mostly by walking. I've heard about strength training. What do you think I should do at this point?

Kay Osgood | Aug 18, 2018
Portland Personal Training & Weight Loss | Aug 18, 2018

Great question Kay! Congratulations on your weight loss, Very impressive! At this stage it is critical that you add a STRENGTH TRAINING routine to your exercise program. We call it strength training rather than weight lifting because there are many different ways you can go about it. You can work with weights, do bodyweight exercises, use bands/dumbells/freeweights, or machines. You can do water aerobics, yoga, or take a group class. The important thing is that you build it into your life. All of us should do some form of strength training at least 2-3 days per week. It doesn't have to take long. The benefits are endless! It will help you mainitain your independence as you age, continue to be active and mobile, fight off injuries and arthritis, lubricate joints, heel achy knees/shoulders and backs, and help maintain and builld bone density to avoid breaks. One of the main reasons is to maintain an increased metabolic rate (keep your metabolism cranking!). Let us know if we can help

How much does personal training cost?

Jill Davidson | Aug 18, 2018
Portland Personal Training & Weight Loss | Aug 18, 2018

That's the big question! A lot of people assume that they cannot afford Personal Training. We pride ourselves on making Personal Training affordable for the everyday person. We have a lot of options (in order to fit all different kinds of budgets and clients needs) and it can get a little confusing. That's why we always offer a FREE SESSION PERSONAL TRAINING so people can check everything out in writing with absolutley no pressure. We offer One on One Personal Training starting at $39 per session (half hour sessions) and Small Group Personal Training (it is Personal Training, not a class) for as low as $10 per session. We have monthly options for unlimited training, combination programs, and per session rates. Our goal will be to put together a program that fits for you! For your life, your schedule, your goals, and your budget! If it fits in your life then you will have the greatest chance of success.......and isn't that the most important factor:)

Shelly Caldwell | Aug 18, 2018
Portland Personal Training & Weight Loss | Aug 18, 2018

Personal Training helps people see significant results through effective workouts and accountability, Most people start with our Free Session. You can sign up for it on our website. We schedule a convenient time at the nearest location for you to meet with one of our Personal Trainers. We will sit down with you to get an idea about your goals, lifestyle, any injuries/challenges and your desired timeframe. Then we will put you through a light workout to gauge your current fitness level (no need to be nervous, it will be light unless you do not want it to be:) After that we will show you all your pricing and scheduling options to work with a Personal Trainer. We never pressure anyone to get involved. We are super nice and try to answer all your questions and help you out as much as we can with our time together. Most clients meet with a Personal Trainer 1-3x per week and are matched with an appropriate Trainer for their goals and schedule.

How do you keep your long term clients motivated?

Shelby Mason | Aug 18, 2019
Portland Personal Training & Weight Loss | Aug 18, 2019

Oh, great question! That's one of the hardest things to do. The absolute best way to keep a client motivated is to get them real/measurable results. Most people will stick with a program if it is working. I think another key to keeping a long term client motivated is to continue to learn what is important to the client and why it is important to them. After that we and try to make their workouts fun and inspiring rather than something to dread. Is a client motivated by health or appearance? Do they have short term goals in addition to their long term goals? Do they like to talk during their workouts or not? The more we learn about our clients, the more we can cater our style to meet their needs. Every client is different, but if you truly care about your clients success, a great Trainer will adjust their style to help the client succeed. Thanks for the opportunity to explain:)
