The best Climbing gym I’ve been to. It’s huge with everything you can ask for. So many rope routes and a massive bouldering section with really cool overhang wall. Even the bathrooms are nice with free towels and a sauna. The weights and cardio section is well stocked like a full gym. I will definitely come here when I'm in Portland again. But damn do they have some rad bouldering and extensive rope climbing area. I can basically live here! I wish you'd open a location in Seattle. I'd definitely join it!

The people here are the most welcoming and kindest crew I’ve met in Portland. If you want to try out bouldering, COME HERE. This gym is so welcoming to newcomers, and the culture is so warm and helpful. I fell on my first day bouldering, and the response here is why I cannot recommend Movement enough. Strangers helped me get to the front desk, and the staff were so helpful and attentive while I waited for someone to pick me up. Matt’s intro to bouldering class was super informative and fun, and Riley at the front desk kept checking on me after my fall. I’ll 100% be back when I’m healed up!

I recently joined the Planet Granite and really love the gym! There is a nice staff and excellent climbing to be done (for adults). Unfortunately, it is not the best place for children (under 13). They are not allowed to Boulder upstairs, and the small Bouldering area downstairs does not have routes and is often being used for adult classes. Additionally, many of lower grade routes are often take/reserved for adult classes as well. It seems strange that kids cannot boulder upstairs, since in other Planet Granites and Climbing Gyms in Portland, kids can Boulder with Parent's Supervision. They claimed that its due to injuries, but make exceptions if you are on their team. My daughter is climbing 5.10d, but only if she joins the team can she be allowed upstairs. After requesting for an exception, I was offered details about the youth climbing team, which did not leave me with a good feeling. I plan on continuing to use this gym for its awesome climbing, however I wish it would be more kid friendly. I look forward to the day when kids can use the Bouldering ramp, with a relatively small drop! The intention of this review is to make people aware of the facilities, and even more so, in hopes of amended policies to be more accessible. Adult = 5 Stars, Children (under 13) = 1 Star, Total = 3 Stars.

By far the best climbing gym in all of Portland. Routes: Extremely talented route setters with tons of variety in their sets to keep things interesting. I find that at other gyms in the area, the routes tend to have the same patterns which just gets boring. Amenities: the distinguishing feature of this gym is the fact that they have a sauna, which is amazing for before and after a climb to warm up and warm down. I’m sure it helps muscle recovery and helps reduce tendon injuries. Location: being in the pearl district, parking can be hard to find at peak hours and you have to pay for it too, so that sucks. Nobody wants to pay $6 every time on top of the already expensive gym membership.

Hello Emmanuel! Yes, we offer rental shoes, harnesses, and chalk!
Hi Samantha- As Clinton and Paul shared, we do not have any auto belays in the facility. What we do have is a community that loves roping up and an ability to make partner calls, a Facebook partner finding group, and an event every second Thursday call Partner Meetup Night (pizza + raffle + new partners = good times) Paul good news! We merged with Earth Treks at the beginning of last year! Our family of gyms now extend to Colorado, Maryland, and Virginia. Also coming later this year we will be opening new Planet Granite locations in Santa Clara & Fountain Valley, CA!
Only pay parking unless you walk to a nearby neighborhood, unfortunately. Though the Parking Kitty app lets you extend your session remotely if you want to climb longer.
Definitely! The instructors are super helpful and amiable. There are classes put on several times a day to get belay certified as well as other classes to improve balance and technique and to learn how to lead climb.
