We traveled down a 1 car road. Went by a lake and turned left and drove to another lake. We got out walked around and was able to get to the river and have a blast. We should have taken the road to the right cause we could have parked by the river closer. There is a johnny-on-the-spot that can be used. Worth the visit.

Really not understanding the purpose of this park. My son and I hiked to this park from Echo Bluff State park. Was expecting to get some drinkable water since it is a state park. But no luck. And all these cool old buildings are closed up and you cannot even see the history that this was built around. A large section around the pond was damaged and needed repair. Even the river access was sub par. No bathroom facilities and only a porta-potty. This could be a great park if the state would put a little money into it and maybe add a few camp sites so people backpacking might have somewhere to have a fire and setup camp. But I guess all the money went into Echo Bluff state park.

A work in progress. Very awesome setting with a couple lakes, right on the river, cool old lodge and cabins, with some trails. The drive in is a bit rough, but that is common in this area. Most of the cool stuff is a mile plus down a hilly gravel road. Only reason it doesn't get a 5 from me is because the site is not quite done yet. Views on the way in and out are nice when there are no leaves on the trees. Gives you a panoramic view of the surrounding hilltops.

Was wondering if I brought a small john boat with h a 6 horse motor, is this acceptable? And is there a boat ramp? But will use trolling motor most of the time.

No power on the lakes. In fact the upper lake was closed due to issues with spillway. So for sure you should call park office and verify access.
