Fun, local place to catch a mix of films, some pizza and a beverage. It's understandable that they had to shift business model to first run a bit to survive...Would rather see them adapt like this than close down; can't let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

I love this little Art Deco style theater. They usually play a first run film or two AND a ton of classic movies, too The classics are usually themed as well, so they'll play a month or two of Sci-Fi movies and then switch to horror l, for example. It's like an ongoing film festival! Another perk- the concessions are very reasonably priced as well.

It was nice to have options like adult beverages or soda or water, a sushi restaurant option along with flying pie pizza as another and still enjoy a movie in a small theater.

visit the main website! They always update their site with a list of what movies are playing and times for the next 7 days. You can also google the phrase "The Academy Theater showtimes" -- and Google does it's best to show you a list of playtimes.

All day senior discounts, with double features for $1. more, on Mondays, then the daily bargain, and Tuesdays is bring someone with you for one paid admission, on Tuesdays. Best of all, the snack bar, has Flying Pie Pizza, and more.
Yes, this is a second run theater, as is also the Mt. Hood, the Avalon, and the Gresham Wonderland. All will show movies that are several months old.

Hello Trudi; No, I don't think it will be permanent. Since re-opening in mid-July, we have experimented with different programming to see what works best in the current environment. I think as people feel better about going to the movies at levels pre-pandemic, we will get back to our full schedule of five sets/15 screenings a day. Thank you for checking in. It is currently scheduled the show through Thursday 10/31 at 12:15, 2:20 and 7:30. It may show longer than that, but showtimes for the week on 11/1 - 11/7 won't be determined until Tuesday 10/29.
