Called to ask for help with a stray kitty. I live in JC. They said they only help animals in Eugene! I ask why is your name Lane County Animal Control. Answer: We only cover Eugene. Plus the shortness and rudeness was so unprofessional. Waste of tax payers money!

The most inept and useless city office of any city or town i have ever lived in. I have been trying for YEARS to get help with a barking dog issue which, as anyone who has been through this knows, is torture, plain and simple.

We don't have a real animal services for the city of Eugene, as it all got "consolidated" to lane county. It is joke now. EPD has no time or resources to properly respond to incidents let alone offer basic services to the members of the county or city.

Nobody ever answers the phone. Tried pressing option 2 and it said it was unavailable. What’s the point in having the option if you can’t even get a hold of someone. I pressed all 3 options. NOBODY answered. They aren’t even closed yet...Today A gentleman called me at noon to talk about my incident with an animal and I had told him I was driving so he told me he would call back in an hour. Well they close in 20 mins....get your act together.

While this should not be considered legal advice in any sense, Oregon law does not prohibit leaving a pet unattended within a vehicle. However if you see signs of overheating (if the dog is non-responsive, vomiting or panting heavily for example), please contact police. Be prepared to share the location (street and nearest cross street), description of the vehicle (including license plate) as well as the condition the animal appears to be in.
