If i could post a minus star i would. Energy Trust is a disappointing government program where the engineers that should know HVAC are clueless and lead you on for months thinking that you might receive a rebate, then deny it. WHATCH OUT!

You cannot find the forms for tax credit on their website - I sent them an e-mail to call me and/or send the form for credit for hot water on demand a week ago & have heard noting from them...

Rude. Terrible service! They are in business NOT to rebate anything! Applied for a rebate for a new heat pump. Denied . *they say* I submitted the information past 60 days. Not true. Submitted information for a rebate on 11 new windows. Denied. They want 11 different stickers, which the installer removed and discarded. Will NEVER use or recommend them, going to file a formal complaint with whomever I can.

Does solar panels make sense in Portland and if they do who are the main companies in this area?

Carl Engman | Aug 16, 2021
Energy Trust Of Oregon Inc | Aug 16, 2021

Going solar absolutely makes sense in Portland, and Energy Trust has incentives to help out. If you’d like to learn more about what’s possible, here’s some additional information: www.energytrust.org/incentives/solar-for-your-business. There are dozens of qualified solar trade allies who serve the Portland area and can meet your needs. If you’d like to connect with two or three of them for a free quote, you can request a solar bid: www.energytrust.org/solar-request-analysis-bid.

I'm trying to find out about possible rebates for solar panels, as I've been seeing ads about being to be able to get them practically free, which is probably not true. I'm also trying to find out about a possible rebate for Milgard type windows.

Energy Trust Of Oregon Inc | Aug 17, 2019

Blue Raven Solar is a trade ally of Energy Trust. That means they are licensed to do business in Oregon and also maintain appropriate levels of insurance. We maintain a rating of one to three starts for each of our trade allies who install Solar. The ratings are based on our experiences with that particular contractor. You can see Blue Raven’s rating on our find-a-contractor list.

WHAT is more efficient a tank water heater or a tankless water heater?

Kenn Lyles | Aug 17, 2019
Energy Trust Of Oregon Inc | Aug 17, 2019

Thanks for your question. Both tank and tankless water heaters can be efficient. Energy and cost savings depend on many factors, like the number of people in your household, your hot water usage habits and efficiency of the model you purchase. Tankless water heaters save energy by only heating water only when it’s needed, instead of keeping a heated tank on standby throughout the day. They often benefit homes with fewer occupants. There are also high efficiency tank models, such as heat pump water heaters, which use ambient heat around the unit to heat water. They benefit homes with more occupants who may need hot water on a more variable schedule throughout the day. Energy Trust provides instant discounts for qualified high efficiency gas and electric tank water heaters at retail stores.

Energy monitors, like the Kill-A-Watt Monitor, are a great way to learn how much energy is used by individual appliances and electronic devices in your home. Kill-A-Watt monitors may be purchased at many retailers, or checked-out from most public libraries. Visit the Kill-A-Watt Monitor page on our website for more information.

What are the current cost incentives to go from electric resistance heat to a heat pump? If you know of tax credits and/or Energy Trust incentives that would be helpful. Thanks.
