I attended cedar Mill for years. It's friendly, family-oriented (although I would feel just as welcome as a single person, I think) and loving, and not showy. There's a non-pressuring but fun missions focus. Kids seem to like Sunday School - I did growing up and I've heard it's still great for them now. My husband and I stopped going because we didn't want to drive that far to church so we go to church in our neighborhood now. That's the only reason we left. We have so many friends there. Pastor Dave is a gifted and fun teacher.

I'm reviewing this Church's wonderful community services - in specific Jesus Table (JT), which is their weekly meal & their art studio, which occurs several times during the week but I visit on Tuesday before their meal. I've been attending the Jesus Table for about 2 years, and the congregation really makes you feel loved, welcomed, and cared for every week. As a great example, there was a long-time attendee of both JT and the art studio that was moving away. As a going way event, they had a gallery night after the meal to commemorate her many works of art. I thought this was wonderful. At Christmas this past year they gave every attendee a Christmas card, which I still have and cherish as this was one of the few Christmas cards I got this past year. They also have great foot care services every other week and showers available every week. The meal each week is multi-course with a server attending to each table, which is a lovely touch. There's typically a salad, a warm drink (coffee and tea), juice, a main dish, and desert. The meals are generally very good quality and a good mix of food groups (so not just meat and a starch), a recent example being roast brisket, pureed squash, and green beans. There's also at least one member of the church sitting at each table specifically to get to know you and talk to you. I definitely feel like I get much more than a meal when I attend each week. I also never feel unsafe there. There has never been an incident the entire 2 years I've attended. I feel like I've gotten to know various folks that volunteer at JT & I look forward to seeing them each week. The art studio is a wonderful gem of a resource. My partner attends more often than I do, but it's a fully stocked art room with high quality materials, like surprising things like Prismacolor products, watercolors, and oil paint. I know my partner finds it therapeutic, and I also enjoy being able to be creative when I have the opportunity to attend. It helps to enrich and enhance my life, as most of my days are just consumed w/ work. I don't attend this, but there's also a service after JT for folks struggling with some form of addiction. In general, I really feel like this congregation really tries to support and uplift those that attend JT. I'm getting closer to being self-sufficient, and it's through the help of the JT staff that I'm getting ever-closer to that goal. Thank you for all you do. It's appreciated. I'd encourage anyone who needs a warm, welcoming place to rest, a shower, a meal, and/or company to come join the JT team on Tuesdays at 6PM (I believe doors open around 4PM though) and/or the Art Studio from 3PM-5PM on Tuesdays.
