Nice place. Store has a lot of personality to it. A little bit tricky to find. So I'm giving it 3.5 stars. To clarify something- CARTM, a non profit organization lost its contract with Tilamook County to run the manzinita transfer station. Because of that, they have to sell all their equipment and close the refindery.

If you are in a mood for treasure hunting or if you are feeling lucky - then CARTM and the Refindery are a worthwhile visit! This place embodies the mantra: Reduce! Recycle! Re-use!

Best community recycling place on the coast hands down and the staff is super friendly. The store inside has some really great treasures just waiting to be found.

Summer hours vs winter hours? This listing told me that they were open today, Monday, Oct 5. So did their phone line. Apparently they have gone back to Thursday--Sunday. I like them because they take electronics. They should have changed the notifications.

Hi Sherri, Thanks for asking! At this moment, our agreement to operate the County's facility expires at the end of September. We are preparing to close September 30, while at the same time we are working on creative solutions that allow us to continue. We will update as events develop.
Paint yes, other hazardous waste needs to go to the county collection facility in Tillamook once a month.
Hi Ginny, thanks for asking about donations! I assume you want to know if CARTM is able to accept reusable household items and building materials. We closed our donations intake last summer to reboot, and are open for business again. As a non-profit, we appreciate your deposit cans and bottles and cash donations as well. Your donations help us offset the cost of recycling difficult materials like styrofoam.
They do take paint. Not sure about spray cans.
Yes they do take yard debris, trash and recyclables but they do not accept donations but there is a habitat for humanity truck every Saturday from 10 to 3 that will take some donations
It's no charge to recycle most plastics, glass and all metal
There is no need to cut cardboard before recycling it, unless it's bigger than a refrigerator box!
Yes! If they work well and are salable locally, we resell them. If they don't work, we recycle them at no cost.
CARTM does indeed sponsor public paper shredding events, every other year in Mid-April. It takes about 2 years for our community to save enough paper to cover the expense of a truck from Portland. The next Shred Day will be in 2020, unless we hear enough demand. Thanks for asking!
