We went into their storefront a few times during our stay in Westport. The woman at the counter was assume! We were considering crabbing of the docks. She was willing to sell us our license and rent crab pots to us. But she was honest about the crabbing not being very good at the time. We decided against it. I trait appreciate her honesty rather than making a sale. We ended up bus some things from the shop.

Booked a combo fishing trip for Salmon and bottom fishing. Trip was booked a little over 2 weeks in advance, so I was super happy to have found a 6 man boat that was available. When we arrived the morning of our fishing trip, we were informed by the deck hand that we wouldn’t be able to go bottom fishing because the bottom fishing was no good. He said that we would lose more gear than we would catch fish, so we’ll be salmon fishing and crabbing. While I like crab, I find it highly unprofessional that I was not given a phone call, or sent an email ahead of time. I proceeded down to the docks and was visiting with another captain, who it turns out, was headed out Bottom fishing. When I stated that I was told the bottom fishing was no good right now, he informed me that the bottom fishing was good if you went south of the harbor, while the salmon fishing was good north of the harbor. So now I know that they simply don’t want to pay for the fuel to head back south, after heading north. I will say that they took us out to the salmon grounds and we caught our limit in about 30 to 40 minutes. Which was great. So since I was sold a combo trip that I was told would be about a 12 hour day, I’m thinking that there’s plenty of time to go bottom fishing. Once again I was informed “No, we’re going crabbing “. Our trip was on a Saturday, so I called the office on the following Monday, hoping to speak to a manager. I spoke with a lady named Olivia, who informed me that there was no manager and I’d just have to speak with her. After I shared my story with her she informed me that there was nothing they would do about it. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth, and I definitely feel swindled. Don’t sell a combo fishing trip to your customers if you don’t plan to fulfill it. I believe that’s called a bait and switch.

Wow amazing... for being my first charter im almost speachless but i will say the caption and his crew are great guys... a blast to chill with and i will be going back many more trips
