They really seem to care for the dogs. As a volunteer for a dog rescue organization, they did their best to answer our questions about a stray they picked up. They also feed them higher end food, have a behaviorist on staff, give them outdoors playtime. They are short staff right now. Would have given 5 stars if the dog was bathed. He was one stinky baby.

We have rescued many dogs and brought them here, and the amount of professional care they give dogs is wonderful. We just adopted a dog from there that we rescued and they helped introduce our older dog to the new puppy and they were super helpful.

Can't trust anything they say. Just renewed my dogs license for 3 years and found out we were moving out of state so I've requested to have refund. They said once they process the payment, they don't refund the money. So if you are renewing the registration dor you dog, do 1 year at a time. You never know what's going to happen to your pet tomorrow and I'm just trying to save pet owners money. Due to delay in the mail they didn't received the payment when I wrote to them. They said they will close my account and if the check does happen to come, they'll mail it back. WHAT A LIE! They process the check and we don't even live here. Good thing I put a stop payment on the check. Even though I paid service fee it's better than paying people like this who does whatever they want with no regards to people.

Keep in mind marion county dog shelter is a KILL shelter.
Did they come to your home and take your dog after you adopted her? That is what happened to me. Broke my heart. And cost me $200 they did not return to me.

Google pets of the homeless and their are emergency services available but you must speak to a coordinator prior to anything and they will arrange for services if provided. Their are other sources listed on their page also be sure to apply and call all the resources don't stop with just one.
Also, they have pictures of the dogs posted outside the front of their building that are adoptable, for those who may not be able to get online.

Why …why do you so easily be admittedly a kill shelter. Shame on you. I made a large donation to this organization but I will absolutely never do the same again. Especially in these times it’s a shame that you’re so easily admit to being a kill shelter.

The pound is very over crowded, I'd suggest finding a nice home for the little guy on Craig'slist or Facebook. But use common sense and don't give him to anyone weird.

I would recommend calling ODOT first and tell them where it is located and if it is in the roadway then you would call the non-emergency police/sheriff number
Go to the shelter to see if your dog is there first. If it isn't there, they will post your dog on the lost dogs page with a photo if you provide them with one. You also need to report your dog as stolen with the local law enforcement. If your dog is microchipped, also report the dog stolen with them. Then get on facebook and post your dog missing on Lost and Found Pets of Salem. Good luck!!
