Get's busy during peak season but is a really pleasant place for all experience levels.

I helped manage the Teacup system for about 7 years until 2018. I gave lessons there, raced, collected the $$ from the donation boxes outside the lodge and inside the cabin.and took them to the club bank account. Also gave many lessons there. Teacup is quite unique. One of its longest trails is two way. Its groomed on a wide forest service road and there is room for double tracks on both sides AND a wide skate lane in between. It is very hilly terrain, with only a few spots where you will find more than 100 meters of trail that doesn't involve gliding down or climbing up. The parking lot is large but never large enough on a weekend or Holiday to hold all the cars between 10 AM and 2 PM. But here's the secret. If you don't mind a 1 mile hike or a nice bit of bushwhacking your own route, you can park at the snow-park about 1.5 miles down the road toward Hood River. You can hike up the road to teacup but you can also ski up and often enough skiers have done it so there is track to follow. If its crusty you can skate but that rarely happens except in the spring. If you are a strong skier or runner, drop the family and friends off at Teacup and then drive down and park at the next Ski Park. And if you ski back up to Teacup you will create a nice set of tracks to follow when you go back to get the car at the end of the day. Or just go out to the Teacup lot and catch a ride with anyone leaving the Park at that time that will drop you off to fetch the car for the rest of the group or family! Teacup skiers are friendly and I have done this many times.

Groomed trails for XC/Nordic skiing and a separate trail for snowshoers and sleds. Note: dogs not allowed on XC trails. Place gets busy so get there early or go on a weekday. $10 pp fee but it’s on the honor system and unfortunately a lot of folks don’t pay. Well marked and well-maintained trails with amazing views.

Great loop for beginners! It was our first time and the easy loop took about an hour and a half to complete. You get great views of the mountain and a peaceful scenic retreat from Portland
