An appointment can make your wait time shorter, but you don't need one! You can ask at the desk for a case worker who can help get you started, then they just have you either make an appointment or have you wait in the waiting room until someone can help you. (I advise going before 4 pm as sometimes there's no case workers after 4 for some reason.)
