It's an amazing Youth shelter next to Providence park in downtown Portland. The staff are great and want to see u succeed. I'm pretty sure that its closed right now due to Covid but they work with homeless Youth up till they are 25 that are in the Portland area

A place to sleep but will keep you up if your a light sleeper and might do more damage than good in some cases but for the most of people it helps better than me

This place is awfull. Do not let your children, friends or family stay here. The place is filthy and you will get sick. The staff might have a the same iq if not lower than most the youth there and that doesn't mix well with the biest and predjudice side. They will find a way to get you ethier doing chores ie cleaning up the everyone else's flith or kicked out for one wrong move. I feel like iv been harassed and I'm damn sure I'm not the only one. Luckily I havnt put any names on here yet. NOT A SAFE PLACE

I'M STARTING THIS REVIEW OUT BY SAYING THAT THE STAFF MEMBER BY THE NAME OF JABARI NEEDS TO GET FIRED. ANY YOUTH WHO HAS STAYED HERE WILL TELL YOU THE SAME THING. HE ABUSES HIS POSITION OF POWER AS STAFF AND TREATS ALL OF THE YOUTH WHO GO THERE WITH COMPLETE INDIGNITY AND DISRESPECT. HOMELESS YOUTH GET TALKED DOWN ON ENOUGH BY ALMOST EVERYONE AROUND THEM AS IT IS, THEY DON'T NEED THIS BY PEOPLE WHO ARE MEANT TO HELP. After staying here for a few months, i can wholeheartedly say that you're better off either couch surfing or sleeping on the streets. The building is far below the health regulations required for a livable space. Many of the youth who go there are thieves and the staff do nothing about theft. Many of the youth are racist, homophobic, transphobic, sexist, and just flat out awful people and the staff still let them in, which is a danger to any of the POC and LGBT youth that go there. The staff are rude and make up rules as they go along. I also get a sense that i'm in a reformation facility, rather than a safe environment for me to get my life together and housed. It's overall just a depressing experience staying there and one i would never recommend to anyone facing homelessness.

Yes it is a safe place! We support all LGBTQ+ youth!
Hello Fraya, Thank you for the questions! We are by no means a "lock down" facility. Our Porchlight and Streetlight Youth shelters are open in the evening and youth freely exit on their own anytime up until closing which is at 8:45am and 9:00am each morning. The shelters are just one of many different resources within what's called the Homeless Youth Continuum (HYC) which offers a vast array of resources to youth between the ages of 16-24. The HYC has education and employment resources, mental health services, housing and culturally specific resources, just to name a few. Please feel free to contact the Access Center at 503-432-3986 for more information, they are available 7 days a week between 8:00am-6:00pm and are more than happy to answer any other questions you may have.
It is a first come, first serve basis. Call for more info: 503-432-3986
Yes! It actually is an expectation.
You can both stay at the shelter, however, there are only bunk beds. Please call 503 432-3986 to get more information. There may be other options.
