Had the pleasure of meeting Richard recently to adjust the neck angle on my Frankenstrat. A simple shim and some precise tightening and it plays markedly better. Price was right, very honest and up front, and a pleasure to talk to!

Excellent work! Richard at RJW guitar repair does really great work! Can't find a single flaw in the fret dress and set setup I just had done. He has people send him projects from all over the world that other luthiers said couldn't be fixed. And guess what! He fixes them! While RJW is a one man shop, and as such you can expect wait times to be moderately longer than the big chain stores. Don't let they dissuade you though, the quality of his work makes it totally worth it. Also Richard seems to be the type of guy that will work with you to get the work your guitar needs at a price that fits your budget. I brought a new(ish) Ibanez in that had sustained damage to one of the frets. Upon inspection he quickly assured me that the single fret damaged was an easy fix but also pointed out that none of my frets were level. I was on a pretty strict budget so I was just going to have him fix the one fret, but he was able to work with me on price so that I could have the full fret job done. I am extremely appreciative of that, since now it plays like a whole new (much higher quality) axe. To anyone considering having work done on their guitar, check out his website (google RJW guitar repair). Lots of great customer testimonials and several photo galleries detailing many of the projects he's done!

Richard is a wonderful human being and outstanding at his craft. I had been wanting to install a single coil bridge pickup in my fender tele which originally came with a humbucker bridge and also replace the other electronics including the neck pickup. Richard knew exactly what needed to be done. After beginning the work he encountered a few complications due to the pickups not fitting perfectly in the cavity within the guitar, but he was able to address them very well in a very timely manner. He also setup the guitar and made it play perfectly in tune. I would whole-heartedly recommend him to any musician who loves their instrument. I look forward to working with him again in the future.

A repair gone way overdue and sideways ends with Richard taking the time to do the right thing and returning my guitar in promised condition. So I brought Richard a Gibson Les Paul special that I picked up on craigslist, but it had a pretty sizable ding on the neck. Seeing the guitar had potential I decided to take it to RJW to do the spot repair and paint work along with a set up. Due to RJW not having a dedicated spray booth and some equipment things were seriously delayed. I dropped the guitar off in January of 2016 with an initial promise date of April 2016. No problem. I get that paint work takes awhile. April rolls around and Richard runs into issues with finish checking and asks to look into it and doesn't want to return it half done. Another 3 months and there are delays due to health issues, and I give him the benefit of the doubt and wait. I then start getting a little impatient around the year mark as I am sure most people would. He finally figures out the problem is with his wood filler creating a chemical issue with the laquer, and says he will get it solved now that he knows the issue. I pick the guitar up in May of 2017. 17 months after I dropped off the guitar the work is done. I will say he offered to only charge me cost for the repair, and what he delivered was great work. The set-up was amazing and the paint work was great. So all of this to say that Richard does a fantastic setup and found a way to do the repair right, but I would find a shop that does dedicated paint and restoration work next time I have a finish repair. For setups and simple repairs I would happily use him again as long as I had a backup guitar :-)

Where can I Buy replacement strings (EADG) for my Kay Bass?

It used to be you would find your nearest music store where instruments and accessories are sold and go there to buy your strings. Today you could use eBay, Amazon, online music stores like Musicians Friend, Sam Ash, etc. or the local music store still works. As for my business I don't generally stock bass strings for sale. How much you charge to replace accustic guitar neck.?

Hi Frank, Thank you for your inquiry. I will need more information to give you a meaningful estimate. Are you referring to a neck reset? If not, why does the neck need replacing? It may be possible to repair the existing neck rather than a neck replacement, which would almost certainly cost more to have done. The next question that comes to mind is are replacements even available? A factory replacement part would be much more affordable than a custom made neck. Please contact me with more details on what your guitar's make and model is and exactly you want to have done and I will be happy to work out an estimate for you. Thank you for your interest in my services. Richard Weikum RJW Guitar Repair
